Slovenia – 2020

Delegate: Ms. Lucija Tacer

43. Ms. Bavdaž Kuret (Slovenia) […]

44. Reading a statement on behalf of the youth delegate of Slovenia, Lucija Tacer, she said that women were still underrepresented in decision-making positions, holding only 25 per cent of Parliament seats and 27 per cent of business leadership positions in her country. A society whose leadership did not proportionally represent women could not be expected to make decisions that reflected the needs of the entire population. Unequal opportunities were multidimensional: women were devoting two more hours per day to household work than men and were paid 8 per cent less, while over 50 per cent of women aged 15 years and above had experienced some form of violence. Serious efforts were needed to address the issue of gender inequality and act against discriminatory practices that limited everyone.
