Reading a statement on behalf of the youth delegate of Finland, Yuri Birjulin, she said that Member States should recognize the fundamental role of youth participation in the creation of peaceful, just and sustainable societies, as outlined in Security Council resolution 2250 (2015). The most pressing demands in relation to human rights and climate action and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals were coming from young people, but they needed more institutional channels to voice their demands.
